Reference: Part of a series including two ballerinas, a skater and a fish (all patented). (see Brunialti, American Costume Jewelry, pp. 201-202, and Tribute to America, pp. 155-156). Patent for the fish is reproduced below (scroll down); designer Marcel Boucher, dated 1944, also dating this piece (there is no patent for this design).
