Reference: Part of the metallic enamel animals birds and flowers series of 1940-41, designer Marcel Boucher. The date is made certain by the well-known Reinad/Chanel unauthorized copy of this piece, part of their only production run in early 1941 (script-signed Chanel), before the company was forced to change its name and mark to Reinad. See Brunialti, Tribute to America, pp. 203, 204 for the 'Chanel' copy of this piece, and pp. 25, 28 on the 1940-1 Boucher series, and Reinad-'Chanel'.
